General LasertronicsGeneral Lasertronics Corporation (GLC) designs and manufactures semi-custom laser-based coatings removal, surface treatment and cleaning systems. The company is recognized by many to be the technological leader in applying high-power laser energy to these tasks. GLC breakthroughs in energy delivery made us the first in the country to deploy portable, flexible systems for job-site applications. We provide system designs that are specialized and safe for depainting military aircraft and other weapons systems and equipment. We also provide designs appropriate to other industrial cleaning and surface treatment tasks. Recent homeland security needs have resulted in our increased focus on decontaminating radioactive surfaces, and on similar chemical and biological decontamination processes. We have proven applications in almost all these areas as well as in lead-based paint removal. Toxic waste volumes are greatly reduced in all areas tested, as compared to conventional (chemical or blast media-based) cleaning and stripping methods. GLC has delivered laser products to the U.S. Air Force and Navy, to a business representative in Japan, to the Tennessee Valley Authority, and to the Southern Nuclear Operating Company. We are working closely with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to expand our applications in the nuclear decontamination arena. We are continuing to improve system designs for our commercial and military customers in the U.S. and overseas, and are currently under DoD contracts to develop next-generation, highly-specialized coatings removal systems for both the Air Force and Navy. We are also investing significant resources in expanding our nuclear decontamination designs into the DoD arena, to include service maintenance tools for nuclear subs and carriers. Overall, our system designs provide cleaning and surface treatment capabilities that are safer, and more environmentally-friendly than virtually any other method on the market. Continuing improvements to the laser technology improve both the cost profile and the efficiency of the applications. |
